Myanmar Earthquake Relief: Mandalay & Inle Lake

In response to the 2025 earthquake in Myanmar, Khiri Reach launched an emergency fundraising campaign to support affected communities. With generous contributions from Khiri Travel’s partners and matched funding from Khiri Reach, the initiative reached its target and enabled both urgent relief and community-led recovery on the ground.

In March 2025, a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, affecting Sagaing, Mandalay, Inle, and Naypyidaw. Communities faced collapsed homes, damaged historic sites, fires, injuries, and limited government aid due to ongoing political challenges.

Khiri Travel, through its charity arm Khiri Reach, launched an Emergency Response with support from travel partners Alchemist, Stubborn Mule Travel, Riksja Travel, and Travel Store. Donations of USD 3,692 were matched 1:1 by Khiri Travel, raising a total of USD 7,384 to fund two critical projects:

Mandalay Emergency Clinic

An emergency clinic was built to provide safe, hygienic medical care for earthquake and fire victims living in temporary shelters. Completed in August 2025, the clinic serves around 50 patients per day, benefiting over 120 families (approximately 600 people). Volunteers also helped restore clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, while providing essential food and cash support.

Inle Lake Emergency Housing

In Inle, communities faced a double crisis after Typhoon Yagi in 2024 and the March earthquake. The funds supported the construction of three emergency houses for local families and the rebuilding of the home of Khiri Travel guide Ko Soe Win, who hosts the signature Shan cooking experience. Completed between July and August 2025, these homes were built with strong community involvement, providing resilience and security for the families.

These initiatives highlight YAANA Ventures’ commitment to supporting communities in times of crisis, providing healthcare, safe housing, and essential resources while reinforcing local resilience and unity.
