Steps for Impact | Miles that Matter
Welcome to Steps for Impact 2027, an ambitious and results-driven initiative that gives companies, organizations and individuals a practical way to support grassroots community and conservation projects across Asia.
On Saturday 30 January 2027, Steps for Impact will stage 14 fundraising walkathons across eight Asian countries: Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
Funds will be raised through five-kilometer walks, corporate sponsorships, individual donations and a silent auction.

Supporting Grassroots Projects Across Asia
Steps for Impact raises funds for carefully selected grassroots community and conservation projects across the eight participating countries. Khiri Reach, the charity arm of Khiri Travel, uses a rigorous vetting process to assess each project’s authenticity, effectiveness and potential for impact.
Current projects include:
- Balinese Music Programme for People with Disabilities (Bali, Indonesia): Launching a Balinese music programme for people with disabilities, creating opportunities for learning, creativity and inclusion.
- Andong Youth Football Team (Andong, Cambodia): Supporting a local youth football team, giving young people access to sport, teamwork and community.
- Community First Aid & AED Initiative (Trapaing Rung, Cambodia): Providing a community AED and First Aid training, equipping residents with the skills to respond to medical emergencies.
- Primary School Vegetable Garden (Khao Sok, Thailand): Expanding a primary school vegetable garden to strengthen school meal programmes and provide additional food for children from poorer families.
- Public School Library (Tha Yet Chaung Village, Myanmar): Developing a school library to give children greater access to books, learning resources and opportunities to read.
- Saigon Floating Waste Barriers (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam): Installing floating waste barriers to help prevent plastic and other waste from entering local waterways.
More projects will be added as the 2027 campaign develops, reflecting the needs and priorities identified by local organizations and in the communities where we operate.
100% of net proceeds from Steps for Impact 2027 will go directly to the selected projects, with event overheads and administrative costs covered by Khiri Travel and YAANA Ventures.

Sponsors receive walker places according to their sponsorship package. Individual participants can join for approximately US$10 per person, with prices varying slightly by country. Registration includes a Steps for Impact T-shirt and refreshments.

Make a financial contribution directly to the Khiri Reach foundation. Every donation adds to the funds available for the selected projects.
Join the Silent Auction
Support Steps for Impact by donating a product, service or experience to our silent auction — or place a bid when the auction opens.
Auction items and reserve prices will be published on the Steps for Impact 2027 website when it goes live in December 2026.
Built on Fundraising Experience
Steps for Impact is organized by responsible tourism group YAANA Ventures and its charitable arm, Khiri Reach.
The organizations previously staged YAANA Ventures fundraising bikeathons in 2017 & 2019, and walkathons in 2024 & 2026.
Steps for Impact 2027 builds on that experience to create an ambitious annual fundraising campaign connecting businesses, individuals and grassroots projects across Asia.
This year’s edition is co-organized by Khiri Travel, VHG Hospitality, ScottAsia Communications, and Naruna Beyond Retreats.

Willem founded Khiri Travel in 1993 and has developed multiple award-winning responsible tourism brands, now operating under the YAANA Ventures umbrella.
Mark D. Remijan — Partner and Group CFO, YAANA Ventures
Mark co-founded YAANA Ventures and serves as Group CFO, bringing extensive experience across hospitality, travel and travel technology. His areas of focus include sustainable business partnerships, technology platforms and innovative business models.
Natalie van Ogtrop — Sustainability Manager, YAANA Ventures.
Natalie leads the group’s sustainability strategy and chairs the Khiri Reach Board of Advisors. Her work focuses on supporting locally led initiatives and helping grassroots projects create lasting benefits for their communities.
